Successful Partnerships

What makes for a successful Partnership?  The following are some basic considerations:

  • Relationship: The emphasis in Partnerships should be relationship, not simply projects/process. The U.S. partner is not involved to simply “do a job.” Mutual respect (Rom. 12:10), enabling and encouraging one another in fulfillment of our ministries (Eph. 4:12-13) and mutual, open accountability before God and each other (II Cor. 8:20-21) shall characterize the Partnership relationship.  Both sides must continually strive to build bridges of trust with one another.
  • Sensitivity: The U.S. Partner must be sensitive to the Baltics culture. Patience, understanding, teachability, and humility shall characterize their involvement.
  • Humility: The U.S. Partner must not come saying, “Here’s what we can do for you!,” but ask, “What is your vision, and how can we assist you in the fulfillment of that vision?”
  • Faithfulness: Both Partners must be careful about making promises they are not ready to keep.
  • Independence: The Baltic ministry should continue to strive to be an independent, self-sustaining ministry; a training/sending ministry in itself. Both Partners must guard against fostering over-dependence.
