Partnerships Defined “Partnership” describes a relationship of two parties, who join together in order to accomplish common goals. There are several reasons to consider the possibility of Partnership as a significant part of an overall church strategy in the advancement of the Kingdom of God: Effectiveness: “Two are better than one, for they have a good return for their labor.” (Eccl. 4:9f) Both members of the Partnership find ministry can be accomplished together which neither would attain on their own. Encouragement: In relationship with each other, both Partners are encouraged by each other’s faith (Rom. 1:12), experiencing growth, joy and blessing that could not be discovered alone. Enrichment: We are made complete in relationship, as each one brings to the Body gifts we need, and do not possess in and of ourselves. This is true of individuals, who are enriched in relationship with others in the church (I. Cor. 12), and of church bodies, as they are in relationship with each other (II Cor. 8:1-15). Evangelism: Not only is evangelism increased as ministry is multiplied, but the display of unity between diverse bodies of different cultures, setting aside their differences and cooperating in Kingdom advancement, is in itself a witness to the world of the power of the Gospel (John 17:20-23). For all of these reasons, and more, a Partnership relationship should be considered by the church of Jesus Christ, as a means to fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20). |
